Adam and Leah celebrated their beautiful wedding at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.
There are so many components to being a wedding photographer – from one minute doing a bit of product photography whilst capturing the details, to becoming a photo-journalist to capture the feelings and emotions of the big day, to being a sports photographer for the action shots – and so it proved at Leah and Adam’s, keeping me on my toes at all times.
As always, my day began early at the bridal prep, photographing all the goings on in what was a rather busy bridal suite, with lots of bridesmaids and friends accompanying Leah as she readied herself for the day ahead.
Indeed, the bridal prep can often set the tone for the rest of the day, and with such a relaxed, warm and fun atmosphere, I knew we were in for a good’un.
Then I was off to find Adam and get some shots as he dressed for the day ahead, before heading out to Castlefield for a few more shots with his best man. And then it was on to the tish, the bedeken (with lots of singing along the way!), and then the genuinely beautiful ceremony.
Indeed, in all the weddings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, this was the first time I’d photographed a groom singing to his bride as she walked down the aisle. A great touch.
As often happens when you’re caught up in the moment, the ceremony flew by, and before we knew it we’d made our way through the formal family pictures and it was on to the party.
And what a party!
Those that know me and my work, will know that I love covering a busy dancefloor, capturing all the action, excitement, energy and atmosphere, and at Leah and Adam’s, they were all there in abundance. From the spinning round, to the chair hoist (or horah – the Jewish tradition of lifting the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs), to treating Adam like a king (another Jewish custom), to Leah being surrounded by her friends as she danced with a tassle-laden umbrella (!).
All in all, it was a whole lot of fun, so without further ado allow me to share with you a selection of my images from Adam and Leah’s wedding:
