Sylvie’s batmitzvah, held in a stunning marquee at her home, was truly one of the most action-packed I’ve ever photographed.
Atmosphere’s make parties, and seeing some of my previous clients arriving at the start of the evening as guests of the family, I knew exactly what I was in for….and they certainly didn’t disappoint!
From the more traditional lifting on the chairs, sitting on shoulders and lots of spinning, to the more wild pile-ons, the human skipping-rope, the mosh pits (of sorts), and the human pyramids, my finger never got the chance to leave my camera’s trigger.
Before the party got into full swing, however, there was a beautiful blessing given by Sylvie’s grandma, who herself was surrounded by family and friends.
And then there were the speeches, from the Rabbi, Sylvie’s dad, Sylvie herself and her friends, each one in turn funny and warm.
And then the mayhem started. And didn’t stop. At all. The entire night.
Indeed, if I don’t walk away from a dancefloor a little battered and bruised, and positively dripping in sweat, I’m a little disappointed.
But that couldn’t be further from the case at Sylvie’s, and when everyone is having so much fun around me, its hard not to get swept up in it too.
So here for your viewing pleasure is just a small taste of the evening:
