Refoel and Faigy celebrated their incredible wedding at Oldham’s grand Queen Elizabeth Hall.
As always, my day started early, photographing the bridal prep just doors away from my own childhood home. In fact, once Faigy was ready and dressed in her beautiful wedding gown, we headed off to my favourite park – Broughton Park – where we were joined by the rest of Faigy’s family. Including all six of her brothers!
Meanwhile, Refoel’s groom prep was no less action-a-go, with lots of little ones running around enjoying the atmosphere, and Refoel himself accepting a bit of a pampering. And why not I say?!
Then we were off to the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham, where the beautiful ceremony was held outside as the skies darkened with the setting sun around us.
But it was at the dinner and reception that the action went into overdrive. Indeed, it’s a good sign of things to come when the guests can’t contain themselves before the happy couple have even made their entrance, with sporadic dancing breaking out in every direction.
And then when the newlyweds did make their entrance through a tunnel of feathered arches and an avalanche of confetti, things got manic (in the best way!).
I am an action guy. I like action. I like peak action. And I love peak action imagery. So the dancefloor at Refoel and Faigy’s was a positive treat for me to photograph, keeping me on my toes at all times, and willingly accepting the occasional bump from time to time.
But when the atmosphere is so electric, there’s nothing else for it other than to get in the thick of the melee.
The speeches were both thoughtful and moving, and the evening proceeded along without a single hitch.
All in all, a truly special day for Refoel and Faigy, and the perfect start to married life together.
