Lucy and Oliver celebrated their stunning wedding at the beautiful Thornton Manor.
Thornton Manor is a designated Grade II* listed building, originally built in the middle of the 19th century, and a perfect venue for a wedding with its lake and lush settings.
As always, I began early, capturing all the goings on at Lucy’s bridal prep with her bridesmaids and family members. There is always a sense of calm-before-the-storm at bridal preps, with the whole day laid out ahead of us, and so it was at Lucy’s because once we’d all finished there, it was straight in to the action.
First there was the tisch outside by the lake, with the sun beaming down, and most of the men in attendance.
Then it was straight in to the ceremony, which began with Oliver meeting his bride half way down the aisle for the bedeken – a custom that is quickly becoming more popular.
The chuppah, expertly decorated by Verdure Floral Design, was on the decking area just outside the main room where all the guests were seated, and it was just the most perfect setting.
Once married and having signed the official marriage register, the couple then made quite the entrance back to the party, on a romantic boat trip across the lake, until they were greeted by their suitably impressed guests.
The family photos were a breeze, and before I knew it the music was kicking up several gears and the dancefloor action started.
And what crazy energetic dancefloor action it was….Jewish weddings have a reputation for their healthy celebrations, and Lucy and Oliver’s more than lived up to it, with so much going on at all times that every direction I turned were incredible photo opportunities.
The speeches through the evening were all both heartfelt and highly amusing, and chairman Serge did a stellar job on the mic (I’m only putting this because I know it’ll make him happy).
But when everyone is in such great spirits, and so clearly up for a great night of partying, you really can’t go wrong.
I feel a special mention must also go to Ben Morrison and his team at We Are Events, who I frequently work alongside, and who is always the consummate professional, dealing with spontaneous unpredictable issues so efficiently and calmly that it allows everyone else to just get on with enjoying the day.
