Sarah and James celebrated their beautiful wedding at Boreham House in Essex with one of the best parties I’ve photographed to date.
Boreham House is a beautiful 18th Century Georgian Grade I Listed mansion with some incredible features, and the ideal venue for such an occasion.
So my day began as always in the bridal prep, where Sarah, her girls and none-too-shy aunt were getting pampered for the day ahead. The bridal prep always feels like the calm-before-the-storm to me, and when everyone is so relaxed and calm as they were, it only amplifies that feeling.
And then I headed over to James for his groom prep, before snapping a few shots of him and his boys outside the mansion.
Proving I put the miles in on a wedding day, I then ran back up to Sarah as she had her finishing touches made, headed down to catch the start of the tisch, then back to Sarah to catch her walk down the house’s grand staircase, and then back to the tisch for the signing of the certificates. I really should wear one of those fitbit watch thingies.
After the formalities of the tisch, and a spirited walk through to the bedeken, it was soon time for the ceremony, which itself was beautiful to witness, and a privilege to photograph.
And then the celebrations began, starting with the newlyweds walk back down the aisle and truly kicking up a notch once the family pictures were out of the way and the happy couple were announced into the main reception room.
I’ve covered lots of great dancefloors in my time, and I can safely say that James and Sarah’s was right up there with the very best of them.
This is in no small part due to the brilliance of The Function Band, who really do set the tone with such energetic, fun, interactive performances, and absolutely brilliant music….whenever I see they’re playing at an up-coming function, I know for certain it’ll be a good’un.
I also have to mention the incredible Stephanie Struth, who shows up on the day and, over the course of several hours, paints a beautiful scene from the actual wedding itself….I genuinely love seeing her work progress during the day, and only wish I could do what she does so effortlessly.
The speeches throughout the evening were full of warmth and good humour, but when an atmosphere is as electric as it was, its hard to keep people sitting down too long, and the rest of the night was spent pounding the tiles of the dancefloor with everyone in attendance having an unbelievably fun time.
Another huge, huge congrats to Sarah and James!
