Jade and Stephen celebrated their beautiful wedding at Styal Lodge.
And considering it looks like my last wedding for a while, I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect wedding to end the season on.
As always, my day started early at Jade’s bridal prep at The Stannylands in Wilmslow, where the atmosphere was already palpable and all the girl’s were in great spirits….some bridal preps are naturally quieter than others, some louder….Jade’s was definitely the latter, and really set the tone for the day ahead.
Before long I was catching up with Stephen at his groom prep, as he readied himself for the day ahead before popping outside for a couple of quick portraits.
And then it was off to Styal Lodge – a venue I first visited for my younger brother’s wedding 5 or 6 years ago – to catch Jade getting into her dress (and the awesome reactions of her friends and family for the big reveal).
And then the tisch began. From my perspective, from the moment the tisch begins until the first round of dancing is completed later in the evening, my job is non-stop.
From the tisch, through to the bedeken, the ceremony, the family pictures, the couple portraits, the empty-room shots and the round of dancing – to say I have to be photographically ready to adapt to every circumstance is quite the understatement….I feel like I’m in a constant state of being primed, taking a picture then immediately looking for the next without really dwelling at all on the ones I’ve just taken.
It is this reason that I reckon I forget 80% of the photographs I’ve taken by the end of the day, and why I really enjoy going through them all the following day.
Anyroad, back to Jade and Stephen’s….the ceremony itself was beautiful, and before long the newly weds were rocking their way back down the aisle as man and wife.
With the family shots in the bag before we knew it, and a few couple pictures taken, it was on to the celebratory part of the evening.
I do love photographing a good dancefloor, and at Jade and Stephen’s it was positively pumping.
Jumping constantly from the men’s circle to the women’s, and back again, there was so much to capture at all times….from the couple being hoisted on the chairs, to a bout of skipping, to Stephen jumping over a long line of his friends lying on the floor, to Jade being surrounded by her girls and having her dress fanned out in every direction.
And special mention to perhaps the most successful human pyramid I’ve captured yet….sterling work, gents!
The speeches throughout the evening were both warm and amusing in equal measure, and the atmosphere never let up for a second.
But with such a great crowd of friends, who were all so obviously up for a great night, the celebrations truly belonged on the dancefloor.
Another huge, huge congrats to the happy couple.
And here for your viewing pleasure is but a selection of my images from their big day:
