I think its fair to say that 2020 didn't quite turn out how anyone had initially anticipated.
What had once - for a very short period of time - seemed like just a normal year, turned into anything but.
Yet despite a global pandemic bringing the world to its knees, there were still lots of joyous moments to celebrate.
The resilience of so many couples to battle through the madness and to make/postpone/remake plans in the face of further uncertainty, and their adaptability when faced with unexpected last-minute changes, was truly inspiring to witness.
I do feel particularly fortunate and honoured to have covered as many weddings as I did the past year, and never take for granted the trust placed in me to capture such hugely important occasions for my couples.
There were lots of new rules to work around throughout the year – from mask-wearing, to reduced numbers, to social distancing – but each new rule has actually helped make the past year’s weddings that much more unique and set apart from the standard wedding fair.
Although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss certain parts of the day too….namely, all the crazy dancefloor action I usually get to photograph, once the formalities are done and dusted, and when everyone just lets their hair down. I've not heard a single rendition of Teenage Dirtbag at all the whole year.
So with this look back at the past year, I'll also definitely be looking forward to a restriction-free future.....
