Chani and Moshe celebrated their spectacular wedding at the hugely impressive Shendish Manor Hotel in Hemel Hempstead.
Although a manor has been on the site since the 13th century, the current building was built in 1853, and still retains its grand Victorian charm to this day.
My day began in the surprisingly laid-back and relaxed bridal prep, snapping away as the bride got ready for the day ahead, along with her sister and mum.
The groom, Moshe, was also getting ready at the manor, so once Chani’s hair and make-up was completed, I hopped across the venue to capture the goings-on in the groom prep, followed by a few quick portraits in the beautiful grounds.
Both the tish and bedeken were particularly lively affairs, with the atmosphere palpably building as each new guest arrived.
And then it was time for the chuppah, set outside in the stunning grounds of Shendish Manor, surrounded by lush greenery….and with the weather holding out perfectly.
The ceremony itself was beautiful, with the entire setting only adding to the atmosphere and sense of occasion, and before we knew it, Chani and Moshe were being sung and danced all the way back up the aisle, through the manor and to the yichud room.
When the grounds of a venue is so visually appealing, I really am spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a location for the family pictures, and there was plenty for me to get a bit more creative with for pictures of the newlyweds alone.
And then it was time to party….and what a party!
Anyone that follows my work will know I love a good thriving dance floor, and I was in for a treat, with so much action going on in every direction I really had to be on my toes to keep up.
Twenty minutes later, I came up for breath, sweaty and feeling like I’d been on an intensive workout programme, but suitably impressed.
Dinner ensued, interspersed with rounds of speeches, and more rounds of frenetic dancing.
And the evening was rounded off late into the night with a very spirited ‘kumzits’, which sees the bridal families sit together in a circle with all their friends around them in a big circle, singing their favourite songs….the perfect end to a perfect day.
Another huge, huge mazel tov to the happy couple!
