Product Photography for African Creations

Professional Product and Lifestyle Photography for a Handmade Homeware Brand

Great product photography is about more than simply documenting what an item looks like. It should communicate quality, craftsmanship and the story behind the product.

I recently worked with African Creations to create a collection of product and lifestyle photographs showcasing their beautifully handmade baskets and homeware products. Designed and produced using traditional techniques and materials sourced in Africa, the collection combines craftsmanship, colour and functionality, making it ideal for both e-commerce and marketing use.

The aim of the shoot was to create a versatile library of images that could be used across the company's website, online shop, social media channels, PR campaigns and marketing materials.

Creating a Natural Lifestyle Setting

Rather than photographing the products against a plain white background, this shoot was designed around a carefully styled home environment.

Lifestyle product photography helps customers visualise products within real spaces, making it easier to understand scale, texture and how items can work within the home.

Working throughout the property, I photographed baskets, planters and decorative pieces in a range of natural settings, including living spaces, shelving displays, kitchen areas and window locations. This approach created a collection of images that felt authentic while remaining consistent with the brand's identity.

Showcasing Craftsmanship and Detail

One of the most important aspects of the shoot was highlighting the quality and craftsmanship of each product.

African Creations' baskets feature intricate weaving techniques, vibrant colours and distinctive patterns that deserve close attention. Alongside wider lifestyle photographs, I captured a series of detailed product images focusing on textures, materials, handles, stitching and decorative features.

These close-up photographs help customers appreciate the workmanship that goes into every piece while also providing valuable content for websites, catalogues and social media marketing.

Product Photography for E-Commerce

When photographing products for online sales, clarity is just as important as creativity.

Throughout the shoot, I created a range of clean product photographs designed to help customers understand the shape, size and features of each item. By combining lifestyle imagery with more straightforward product photographs, the final gallery provides flexibility across multiple marketing channels.

This approach allows businesses to maintain a consistent visual identity while creating imagery suitable for e-commerce listings, promotional campaigns and editorial content.

Building a Versatile Image Library

One of the biggest advantages of a professional product photography shoot is the ability to generate a large and varied image library from a single session.

For African Creations, the final collection included:

  • Lifestyle product photography

  • Product detail photography

  • Interior styling images

  • E-commerce product photographs

  • Brand storytelling content

  • Social media imagery

  • Website photography

  • Marketing and PR photographs

Having a diverse collection of imagery ensures that businesses always have professional content available for future campaigns, product launches and marketing activity.

Product Photography for Retail and E-Commerce Brands

Whether you're selling handmade products, homeware, interiors, gifts, food, retail products or luxury goods, professional photography plays a vital role in how customers perceive your brand.

My approach combines clean product photography with natural lifestyle imagery to create photographs that not only showcase products accurately but also help communicate the values and personality behind a business.

If you're looking for a product photographer in Manchester, Prestwich or across the North West, I'd be happy to discuss how professional photography can help showcase your products and strengthen your brand.
